Using Software to Support Oral Presentations

Oral presentations take lots of time and practice to master, but here are four basic rules to follow as you start to create visual presentations to support your story.

  1. Use one font throughout the presentation
  2. Limit words - talking points only
  3. Keep the graphics simple
  4. Use minimal (if any) animations

A good basic presentation has several parts. They are:

  1. Title Page (1 slide)
  2. Thesis Statement - what you are going to talk about (1 slide)
  3. Body - information for the audience. This can be broken into several sections to illustrate various points.
  4. Summary - what you have talked about (1-2 slides)
